Laila Harris joins WHEN with a passionate belief in the power of positive change, and in the innate human desire to connect with nature. With a background in anthropology, Laila has a strong interest in how the social and cultural contexts of women’s lives can impact the understandings, experiences, and responses they have to various environmental health issues. Laila’s commitment to the field of environmental health has inspired her to work with organic farm women in the Caribbean. While at home, Laila makes her own handmade, natural beauty products. Diane Hua is dedicated to healthy living and primary prevention in the area of environmental heath. She brings to WHEN an interest in knowledge translation and public education, particularly as it relates to toxic substances in food and consumer products, and the health effects of contaminants. Diane has a background in political science and public health. Back to top

Jenise Lee is a passionate environmental engineer who always stresses the importance of a healthy living environment. By raising awareness and engaging the public via innovative outreach and events, she hopes to work towards a more sustainable and healthier way of life for all. Back to top

Erica Opoku joins WHEN in hopes of educating people about the intrinsic relationship between health promotion, food security and the environment. This passion was ignited when working overseas in Ghana doing HIV/AIDS work in 2008. Erica is committed to educating people about the relationship between access to healthy foods, the environment and one’s overall health. Back to top

Jocelyn Roff is a committed environmentalist. Through WHEN she is empowering people to make healthy choices for themselves, their loved ones and the environment. Back to top

 

Leigh Hayden is committed to bringing three of her passions together – environmental stewardship, women’s health, and everyday fun – in her work with the WHEN community. She values positive collective change and mutual learning. Back to top

Lindsay Gladkowski has come to WHEN to assist in planting small seeds of holistic awareness and change. This health advocate seeks to challenge the status quo by highlighting how environmental health is a key determinant to one’s overall social, emotional and mental health. She can often be found encouraging people to stay away from their comfort of plastic. Back to top

Marie Lorenzo is an environmental feminist deeply interested in global sustainability and finding ways to achieve this transformation. In her time with WHEN she has brought her much appreciated administrative and financial skills and talents as the Board’s Treasurer and is currently WHEN’s Chair. Back to top

Soon-Hee Oh has a varied skill-set, ranging from scientific research to public education on environmental health issues. She brings to WHEN an expertise in science and technology risks on toxic substances, the precautionary principle on the environmental contaminants, and the toxicological materials in consumer’s products. Soon-Hee also has a passion for food systems and food security, and is actively working with the public to create awareness and help realize sustainable communities. Back to top

Vanina El-Khoury has a strong background in both arts and business, with many years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. She is an innovative thinker with a diverse and wide-ranging skill set. Simultaneously an artist, entrepreneur and young professional, she sees joining the WHEN team as an exciting new chapter! She strongly believes in WHEN’s mission to change the world one person at a time. She is looking forward to working with this wonderful group of women and helping to educate the community-at-large about the importance of making healthier choices each day. Back to top
