What We Do
- Conduct screenings and workshops using "Toxic Trespass", a documentary film the on environmental connections to children’s health, and "Exposure", a documentary film on the environmental links to breast cancer
- Lead Facilitator Training workshops to enable others to take our films into their communities and conduct educational film workshops. Produce and update the Facilitator's Guide for workshop leaders
- Produce quarterly e-newsletter on current issues impacting on the environment and human health
- Issue alerts on an as-needed basis to mobilize and raise awareness on time-sensitive issues
- Research and develop practical, single-issue action guides concerning the threats to the quality of our air, food and water – the life-givers we and all living things introduce into our bodies every day – and what we can do individually and collectively to Take Action for Prevention
- Actively participate in local, provincial and national coalitions such as the Toronto Environmental Alliance, the Ontario Environmental Alliance, and Prevent Cancer Now coalition
- Submit deputations during public consultations, most recently on anti-pesticide legislation, tritium levels in drinking water, and community right-to-know legislation
- Host an annual fall fundraiser to raise consciousness and make connections between individuals and groups. In 2007 the theme was "Connect Art" bringing students, artists, community organizations together with WHEN supporters. In 2008 the theme was "Connect Food" bringing food growers, distributors, advocates and consumers together with WHEN supporters.
- Sponsor the Cancer Prevention Challenge, a fun, interactive spring fundraiser which brings groups from across the country together to raise money for local and national cancer prevention projects
