How to Get Involved as a WHEN Volunteer
We offer interesting and challenging volunteer positions for people who are interested in environmental and health issues. We offer the opportunity to build your skills, connect with like-minded individuals and participate in your community.
We are always looking for volunteers who can provide support in the following areas:
Education: Volunteers use our films, Exposure and Toxic Trespass to educate the general public about the links between environmental toxins and health. We will train you to run workshops using both of the documentaries. All you need is an interest in workshop development and/or public speaking.
Outreach: Throughout the year, WHEN attends several environment- and health-related special events. We staff a table where we communicate our message, and sell our merchandise, including DVDs, t-shirts and tote bags.
Research: Help us develop content for new campaigns, explore issues of relevance to you and your community and translate that information into action for prevention.
Fundraising: WHEN is a charitable organization. We rely on donations and grants from a number of different sources. If you have some experience with fundraising/development or communications, we would love to have your assistance!
Administrative support: We can always use extra hands to help out with mailings, filling orders, assisting with workshop scheduling and responding to inquiries about WHEN.
There is no set time amount that we require our volunteers to commit. The amount of time you devote will also depend on the type of volunteer work you would like to do. If you are interested in volunteering with WHEN, send us your resume and a cover letter indicating your area of interest and any relevant experience.
